My husband and I are musicians. And we’re parents. When we are onstage, we do our best to really be ON stage. But all our “backstage” experiences with our son (our little frog) deeply affect who we are as people, thus musicians. Recent insights:

I am so lucky to live in Boston. I’m sure every community has amazing parents; but the families who have come to our music matinees for kids are exceptional. My husband Matt’s Sing-along at Bestsellers Cafe was filled with engaged and engaging kids, ages 2-7 plus a few baby sibs.

There were a good number of dads in attendance. And most parents were totally game to sing along, without insisting that their kids do the same. No surprise: the kids were all singing or wiggling or shouting out animal names for the Cock-a-doodle-doo songs.

Way to go, parents. It’s a tough and totally hilarious job to guide little wills through the world. Might as well sing!
