OK, so every family has different interests. One clan’s camping trip is another’s frugal New York weekend (the museums there are pay what you can).
And one family’s afternoon picnic is another’s lazy afternoon at… a brewery!
Places like Somerville’s American Fresh Brewhouse Beer Garden offer great beers for parents plus toys and kid-friendly appetizers. What a simple yet powerful way to make room for families in a typically child-free zone. THIS is the stuff of community. It’s real. It’s integrated. It’s local. And it’s probably going to hold equal appeal for moms, dads and grandparents.
Meanwhile, here’s to music for kids that is actually good and interesting for all listeners (surf, rockabilly, kid-song mash-up, anyone?). My husband Matt Heaton is putting the music, the beer AND the family friendly together at two forthcoming events in Somerville. Boston-area parents, take note!
